Rohit Sharma was a happy camper as India began their Super Eights stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 in fine style. The Men in Blue overcame the early challenge from the Afghanistan bowlers and posted 181/8 on the board to eventually win by 47 runs. With this win, Rohit & Co. are one step away from making it to the knockout phase of the tournament.
Speaking of the previous match, Suryakumar Yadav excelled with the bat with a crucial knock of 53 runs from 28 balls. Hardik Pandya too showed decent form with the bat to score 32. It was the bowling which came to the fore as Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh picked 3 wickets each while Kuldeep Yadav bagged two a couple under his belt.
The next challenge for India will be the Bangladeshi side, who are smarting after their loss to Australia. The two sides have already played each other when they clashed in the Warm-up, which India won with relative ease.
Here’s India’s predicted XI to take on Bangladesh in the Super-8 match of T20 World Cup 2024:
Openers – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were a dream combination for many fans. The two veteran batters though have failed to get going with the bat this campaign. Virat Kohli scored 24 runs and Rohit Sharma could score only 8 to put India in early trouble. Both batters have had a good record against Bangladesh in the past and based on this one cannot rule them out getting back to their best with the bat on Saturday.
Middle-order – Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav
With India in trouble, they were bailed out by the energetic Rishabh Pant, who scored a crucial 20. The lefty batter has been in decent nick while batting at 3 throughout the tourney. Suryakumar Yadav has answered the critics with two successive fifties (50* vs USA; 53 vs BAN), and his form leading into the next few matches will be crucial if the Indians are to go all the way.

All-rounders – Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel
The ongoing event hasn’t been great so far for Shivam Dube. The left-handed batter though will be looking to prove the critics with a potentially match-winning performance against Bangladesh. Hardik Pandya proved why he is a key component in the Indian team with his crucial 32 with the bat against Afghanistan.
Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel have proved time and again their quality with the bat and ball. Axar Patel in particular was at his best with the bat in the final overs versus Afghanistan, and also delivered the good with the ball. Ravindra Jadeja will want to better his performances, as the veteran star scored just 7 with the bat, picked 1/20 from his 3 overs with the ball.
Bowlers – Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh
India had decided to bring in Kuldeep Yadav for the Afghanistan game, and it paid rich dividends. The 29-year-old bowled four overs and picked 2 wickets and was hard to score against. Arshdeep Singh continued his wicket-taking form by picking 3 wickets, giving away 36 in his 4-over spell. The star with the ball for India so far has been Jasprit Bumrah as he bowled four overs with one maiden over and picked 3/7. Bumrah will hold the key once more with the ball in-order to help India potentially clinch their place in the Semi-finals.
