After an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of India in the one-off Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Australia will aim to come back stronger in the ODI series, which is slated to begin on December 28. Notably, they are extremely dangerous in the white-ball format but haven’t been at their absolute best in the absence of Meg Lanning. Newly appointed skipper Alyssa Healy has the opportunity to create her legacy in India but it is not going to be an easy task.
Australia will have to be at their best. The batters especially weren’t at their very best in the Test match and that is something that the team management needs to work on at the moment. So, who are the players that can create an impact in the upcoming three-match series? Let’s find out:
3. Beth Mooney
Beth Mooney looked to be in good touch in the Test match but due to a brain-fade moment in the second innings, the 29-year-old lost their wicket. Overall, she looked to be in a really good touch and hence, will be one of the players to watch out for in the coming ODI series. Notably, she has played 65 matches for Australia, scoring 2137 runs in the process.
2. Jess Jonassen
The left-arm orthodox spinner can prove to be deadly in spin-friendly conditions. She failed to make a mark in the Test series and hence, the 31-year-old will be eager to prove herself in the limited overs. Notably, she has represented Australia in 93 ODI matches and has picked up 141 wickets in the process.
1. Alyssa Healy
Skipper Alyssa Healy will have a lot of responsibilities in the three-match series. After losing the Test match, she is under pressure not just to bat well but to lead properly. Notably, she has played 101 ODI matches for the country and has scored 2761 runs in the process.
