Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings will lock horns in the 59th match of the Indian Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, May 13. Both teams are coming off a terrible defeat in their previous encounters.

The David Warner-led side suffered a 27-run defeat against the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 10.

The defeat left DC limited to the bottom on the IPL 2023 points table and are virtually out of the playoff contention. PBKS, on the other hand, lost to Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 8.

During DC’s previous IPL 2023 clash, CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. DC bowlers were instrumental as they restricted the hosts to 167 runs in 20 overs.

Mitchell Marsh claimed a three-wicket haul while Axar Patel picked two and Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Khaleel Ahmed scalped one each. However, DC’s batters struggled with the bat as they could score only 140 runs in the allotted overs.

In PBKS’ previous encounter, skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to bat first. Dhawan scored a half-century as PBKS set a 180-run target for the hosts. The PBKS bowlers produced a stunning start in the second innings but failed to take control as the game proceeded. Rinku Singh scored a boundary on the final delivery of the PBKS’ innings and KKR registered a five-wicket win.

DC are currently at the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table with eight points, having won only four of their 11 matches. They have won only against Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

PBKS, on the other hand, are in eighth place with 10 points and are tied with Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. They have won against KKR, RR, LSG, MI, and CSK.

Both Delhi and Punjab have met thirty times, with each team winning fifteen times. The two teams are expected to come up with the same team as in the last game.
