Gujarat Titans will clash with Chennai Super Kings in the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Sunday, May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Gujarat have been phenomenal in the ongoing season and meant business from the first game itself. They were the most dominant team in the league stage and won 10 out of the 14 games played.
However, Hardik Pandya & Co. failed to ride on the winning momentum in Qualifier 1 and lost at the hands of the Chennai side by 15 runs. But they brought their A-game into play in Qualifier 2 and trumped Mumbai Indians by 62 runs to make their way through to the summit clash.
Shubman Gill and Mohit Sharma were the chief architects of the triumph. Gill blasted a blistering knock of 129 runs off 60 deliveries to propel GT to a massive total of 233 runs. Mohit on the other hand, wreaked havoc with the ball and registered impeccable figures of 2.2-0-10-5 to bowl out Rohit Sharma & Co. for 171 runs.
Talking about Chennai Super Kings, they have again shown their ability to lift themselves from a dismal position. MS Dhoni & Co. finished in the second-last position in IPL 2022 and started the ongoing edition with a loss to the Gujarat side. However, they showed great character and went on to win eight games out of 14 fixtures in the league stage.
Then in Qualifier 1, CSK put their best foot forward against the defending champions and won the encounter by 15 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad was the main contributor with the bat and notched up a magnificent half-century to power his team to 172. While defending the target of 173, CSK bowlers put on a complete performance to restrict GT to 157 and book a ticket to the finals.
As the defending champions and four-time IPL champions go for glory on Sunday, both sides would look put their best foot forward and write their names in history books.
