The action will continue in the Indian Premier League 2023 as Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants will go head-to-head against each other on Friday, April 28 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. 

Lucknow are ranked fourth on the points table with four wins from seven games while Punjab are ranked sixth on the points table with four wins from seven games as well.

Lucknow are coming into the game having lost their previous fixture against Gujarat Titans by a narrow margin of 7 runs. LSG were set a target of 135 by GT and were cruising along in the chase as they were 106/2 after 14.3 overs, however, they lost momentum in the death overs and messed up the chase. 

Captain KL Rahul has been in good form having scored 262 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.42. However, the opening batter will look to improve his below-par strike rate of 113.91 in the coming games. With the ball, Mark Wood has been breathing fire for LSG having picked up 11 wickets from four matches at an average of 11.81.

Meanwhile, Punjab are coming into the game having defeated Mumbai Indians by 13 runs in their last game. Batting first, Punjab posted a massive score of 214/8 and successfully defended it courtesy of Arshdeep Singh’s (4/29) brilliance with the ball. 

Punjab are missing their regular captain Shikhar Dhawan from the last three games who sustained a shoulder injury in the game against Gujarat Titans. However, in his absence, Curran has done a good job winning two out of three matches. Dhawan is the leading run-scorer for PBKS with 233 runs to his name from four innings at an average of 116.50 and a strike rate of 146.54 with two fifties to his name. 

With the ball, Arshdeep Singh is the leading wicket-taker with 13 scalps to his name from seven matches at an average of 15.69 and an economy of 8.16. The two teams have had more or less similar journeys in the tournament so far and will look to climb higher in the points table.
