The breathtaking action will continue in the Indian Premier League 2023 on Thursday, May 4 as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will go against each other at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Kolkata are eighth on the points table with three wins from nine games while SRH are placed on the ninth spot with three wins from eight games.
Kolkata started their campaign with a loss against Punjab Kings, however, made a comeback by winning their second and third fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans respectively.
After back-to-back wins, KKR’s campaign went astray as the Nitish Rana-led side lost four games on the trot. They registered their third win against RCB by defeating them by 21 runs but went on to lose against Gujarat Titans by seven wickets.
Left-handed batter Rinku Singh has been the find of the tournament for KKR as he’s the second-highest run scorer for his side while Venkatesh Iyer sits on the top spot. Varun Chakravarthy has been in top form with the ball having picked up 13 wickets while the 19-year-old Suyash Sharma has nine scalps to his name.
On the other hand, SRH started their campaign with back-to-back losses against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow. They managed to register consecutive wins against Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders to get their campaign going.
However, they once again went astray losing their next three games on the trot. The Aiden Markram-led side managed to beat Delhi Capitals by nine runs in their last fixture and will be eager for their fourth win of the season vs KKR.
SRH’s batting has had a collective failure so far in the tournament with only Heinrich Klaasen looking in some form. With the ball, Mayank Markande has been exceptional with his variations and is the leading wicket-taker for the side.
The upcoming match is crucial for both SRH and KKR as they can’t afford to lose any game with the tournament heading towards the end of the league stage.
