Towards the fag end of the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023, legendary batter Virat Kohli got involved in a verbal fight with young Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq. Notably, the incident took place when the 23-year-old was batting and it continued till the post-match presentation, with Gautam Gambhir later getting involved in the same.
Meanwhile, during his time at the crease, Virat Kohli was spotted sledding the youngster and Naveen didn’t remain quiet and retaliated immediately. During their interaction, Kohli was also spotted showing his shoe at Naveen as umpires tried to calm him down. Standing on the non-striker’s end, Amit Mishra too got involved in the middle but soon stepped back.
After the match, as the players of the two franchises were shaking their hands, Virat and Naveen once again got involved in a verbal spat as things got heated up in the middle. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis meanwhile took Virat Kohli away but even so, they continued from some distance.
Later on, Gambhir got involved as Virat once again had a heated argument with the Southpaw. Notably, when Kyle Mayers was having a word with the 34-year-old, Gambhir intervened and took the LSG opener away and that didn’t sit well with the former India captain. Post that, the two got involved in a verbal fight as players of their respective teams separated them in the middle.
Meanwhile, when LSG skipper KL Rahul was talking to Virat Kohli after the match, he called out Naveen but the youngster refused to have a chat with Kohli. Notably, due to these incidents, Kohli and Gambhir have been fined 100 percent of their match fees while Naveen has been fined 50 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
When it comes to the match, RCB managed to defeat LSG by 18 runs at the latter’s den, and with that, they now moved to number five in the IPL Points Table while LSG remain at number three.
