The hopes of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to secure a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs took a major hit after their narrow loss to the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday.

DC clinched victory by a margin of 19 runs in a tightly contested match, significantly denting LSG’s playoff aspirations. Currently positioned sixth in the points table with 12 points from 13 matches, LSG now confront a daunting challenge to advance to the knockout phase.

LSG’s aspirations hinge on securing victory in their final match. This achievement would propel them to a potential maximum of 14 points, a tally that may fall short of guaranteeing a top-four placement. The team’s Net run rate (-0.787) stands as a pivotal factor in their qualification prospects.
