Putting an end to speculations about the tournament being shifted outside India due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Dhumal assured fans that the seventeenth edition of the IPL will take place on the home soil.

Notably, the IPL has faced logistical challenges during Lok Sabha elections in the past as well, prompting a partial relocation of the tournament to the UAE in 2014. However, the 2019 edition defied this trend by successfully unfolding entirely within India despite the elections. Following the suit, Dhumal now reaffirms their unwavering commitment to hosting the seventeenth edition of the lucrative league in India.
Recognizing the significance of elections to the nation, Dhumal has shared insights into the strategic approach adopted to ensure the seamless organization of the IPL amidst the electoral proceedings.

Official start date and the update about schedule from Arun Dhumal
Although the official schedule for IPL 2024 is yet to be unveiled, Dhumal shared key insights during an interaction with PTI. He revealed that the BCCI is eyeing a March 22 start for the tournament.
Acknowledging the unique circumstances surrounding the Lok Sabha elections, Dhumal mentioned that the schedule would be released in two parts, with the initial schedule taking precedence. The IPL chairman further revealed that the BCCI is working closely with government agencies to ensure smooth coordination and execution.
“We are looking at a March 22 start for the tournament. We are working closely with the government agencies and we will first release the initial schedule. The entire tournament will be held in India,” said Dhumal
