A historic moment unfolded in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Monday as Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal became the first bowler to reach the coveted milestone of 200 wickets. The 33-year-old achieved this feat during his side’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Yuzvendra Chahal makes history
Chahal wasted no time in making history, dismissing Mohammad Nabi on just the third ball of his opening over. The delivery induced an outside edge from Nabi, resulting in a caught & bowled dismissal for Chahal. This historic wicket marked Chahal as the first bowler to reach 200 wickets in the IPL. He finished the match with figures of 1 for 48 in his four overs.
Amit Mishra greets Chahal’s 200th IPL wicket with cheeky message
Following Chahal’s achievement of 200 wickets in the IPL, fellow leg-spinner Amit Mishra of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) shared a playful congratulatory message. Mishra’s message, shared on LSG’s official Twitter handle , humorously acknowledged Chahal’s accomplishment by stating, Yuzi, you’ve left me behind because I’m not playing.
“Hi Yuzi, bahut khush hu aapki 200 wickets ke liye. Mere ko peechhe chhor diya hai kyuki mai khel nahi raha hu, isliye tu aage bad gaya hai. Aur mai yehi wish kar raha hu ke ek achha helathy competition rahe. I am waiting for my chance to beat your again. Chalo dekhte hain aage chal ke kya hota hai. But I am really happy for you. Keep it going. All the very best,” said Mishra.
