Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) saw their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign come to an end following a devastating loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator held at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The 17th season of the lucrative league presented a tale of contrasts for RCB. Initially, the team endured a turbulent journey, losing seven out of their first eight matches. Owing to this reason, experts foresaw an early exit from the tournament for the renowned franchise. Yet, under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, the team displayed resilience and determination, securing six consecutive victories to secure a spot in the playoffs.
Carrying a wave of form and momentum, RCB entered the Eliminator as favourites against RR, who had suffered four consecutive defeats leading up to the match. However, it turned out to be a disappointing night for RCB, as they succumbed to a four-wicket loss, dampening their aspirations of winning the title.
The loss against RR leaves RCB players dejected
The RCB franchise took to social media to share a video capturing the atmosphere in their dressing room after the heartbreaking loss. In the video, star players like Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, and Du Plessis looked visibly shattered after concluding another season without a trophy. The 3-minute-long video also shows some glimpses of delightful moments for the team in this year’s IPL. At the end of the video, Kohli was seen giving autographs to the young players of his team, bidding them farewell on a happy note.

Chennai Super Kings fans celebrate RCB’s loss
Following their historic victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 68th match of the IPL, RCB secured a spot in the playoffs. This triumph sparked banter between fans of both teams on the internet. With RCB’s loss in the Eliminator, Chennai fans seized the chance to mock Kohli and his team on various social media platforms. Notably, many CSK supporters were also seen celebrating in the stadium’s stands over Bengaluru’s defeat in the game.
