Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered a resounding nine-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday (April 22). The only wicket-taker for Mumbai was veteran spinner Piyush Chawla, who dismissed the dangerous Jos Buttler, Rajasthan’s Impact Player.
Piyush Chawla’s clever delivery: Outfoxing Jos Buttler
The leg-spinner cunningly delivers a quicker wrong’un, pitching it on a shortish length around the off-stump. Buttler, anticipating the punch, moves back but is deceived as the ball subtly turns in, sneaking between bat and pad to shatter the off-stump. Buttler departs after a brisk 35 runs innings off 25 balls, marked by six boundaries. Chawla erupts into a pumped-up, fierce celebration, fueled by his success in dismissing Buttler, particularly intensified after Buttler’s boundary on the preceding delivery.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson shine: Guiding RR to victory
Unfortunately for Mumbai, Buttler’s wicket was the only breakthrough they managed throughout the match. The duo forged a partnership of 119 runs for the second wicket off just 64 balls. Jaiswal’s spectacular century, scoring 104 runs in 60 balls with nine boundaries and seven sixes, stood out. Meanwhile, Samson contributed an unbeaten 38 runs, remaining at the crease till the end alongside Jaiswal.
