Hosts Mumbai Indians (MI) are locking horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Both teams are eager to end the season on a high note, although MI’s playoff hopes were dashed earlier in the tournament. LSG, on the other hand, still hold a slim chance of reaching the playoffs.
MI wins the toss against LSG
MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first. He confirmed three changes to his side, with the most notable being the inclusion of young gun Arjun Tendulkar, replacing the seasoned pacer Jasprit Bumrah. This marks Tendulkar’s first game of the season after spending most of his time on bench.
Tilak Varma‘s injury and Tim David‘s absence also gave a blow to MI. Their batting has struggled for consistency this season, and their bowling hasn’t quite clicked either.
Meanwhile, LSG made two changes to their lineup, replacing opening batter Quinton de Kock with Devdutt Padikkal and picking Matt Henry to strengthen their bowling unit.
