In the high-stakes showdown between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, Sandeep Warrier‘s exceptional spell and Rishabh Pant‘s sensational knock emerged as standout performances.
Warrier, the 33-year-old pacer, shone brightly for GT on Wednesday. Bowling three overs, he scalped three crucial wickets and conceded a mere 15 runs. This exceptional performance stands as his best bowling figures in his IPL career so far, having played only eight matches.
Rashid Khan’s sensational catch
Struggling early in their batting innings, the DC saw Shai Hope fall victim to Rashid Khan‘s brilliance in the final over of the powerplay bowled by Warrier. He delivered a good-length delivery that took a thick edge off Hope’s bat. Rashid made a brilliant diving effort at backward point and took the catch to dismiss the Caribbean star.

Delhi Capitals bounce back with a convincing victory
After being asked to bat first, DC posted a formidable total of 224/4. Despite a shaky start, they found themselves at 44/3 after the powerplay, largely due to Warrier’s exceptional spell. Pant joined the action at number 5 and played a blistering knock, scoring 88 runs off just 43 balls. He formed a crucial partnership of 113 runs with Axar Patel, who contributed 66 runs off 43 balls. Axar was dismissed in the 17th over, but DC managed to accumulate 53 runs in the last two overs of the innings.
In reply, GT lost Shubman Gill early, but Sai Sudharshan‘s resilient 65 and David Miller‘s 55 provided hope for their team. However, going into the final over, they required 19 runs with Rashid and Mohit Sharma at the crease. Despite Rashid’s fiery 21 off 11 balls, they fell short of the target by 4 runs.
