Disappointed fans were left empty-handed as the much-anticipated clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2024 was called off due to rain. The match at Guhawati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium was initially reduced to a seven-over-a-side affair after multiple delays, but persistent showers forced the umpires to abandon the game altogether.
While the washout secured the top spot for KKR on the points table, Sanju Samson’s RR remained in third place. However, amidst the disappointment, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer provided a moment of amusement for fans.
Shreyas Iyer’s duck walk
As both captains shook hands after the official abandonment, Iyer was seen sporting a playful smile and mimicking Bollywood actress Malaika Arora‘s style of walking. This lighthearted gesture by Iyer was captured on camera and has been doing the rounds on social media, bringing a smile to fans’ faces despite the match cancellation.

KKR to play Qualifier 1 of IPL 2024
The Knight Riders set to clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, May 21.
KKR entered the playoffs as the top-ranked team but face this crucial match without recent game practice, as their last two league matches were washed out by rain.
Despite this, KKR will be confident against SRH, having secured a narrow 4-run victory over them earlier in the group stage matches.
