India’s upcoming white-ball assignment against Ireland holds a lot of value as the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna will be making their long-awaited return to international cricket. Bumrah will also be leading the national side, which will see the likes of Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma, who have earned their debut call-up in the series.

Notably, India have named a relatively younger squad, filled with players who will participate in the upcoming Asian Games in China. Recently, the Men in Blue suffered an embarrassing series defeat at the hands of the West Indies and hence, Ireland will back themselves to register a series win over the inexperienced Indian side.

For India, it will be a preparatory camp for the Asian Games while Bumrah and Prasidh’s return holds massive value, as the duo are part of India’s scheme of things for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Hence, their progress will be closely monitored and looking at that, the selectors will take a final call on their inclusion in the Asia Cup and World Cup squad.

When it comes to batting, Ruturaj Gaikwad has a golden chance to prove himself in the shortest format of the game and establish himself as a dependable batter. The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma, who are in great form at the moment will also have a chance to show their class and get into India’s scheme of things for the mega tournament, which is slated to begin on October 5.

Meanwhile, Ireland have named a strong squad as the team features the likes of Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Gareth Daleny, Joshua Little and Curtis Campher, who can change the complexion of the game at any point.

Probable Playing XI:

  • Ireland: Andrew Balbirnie, Paul Stirling (c), Lorcan Tucker (wk), Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, Neil Rock, George Dockrell, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Joshua Little, Benjamin White
  • India: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashaasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Sivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (wk), Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah (c), Prasidh Krishna, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh
