The upcoming India tour of Australia in 2024-25 has been expanded to include an additional day-night warmup game, according to the latest schedule announced by Cricket Australia.

India set to play extra pink-ball game on Australia tour

The five-match Test series, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, will now feature a pink-ball Test.

George Bailey, the CA Chair of Selectors, in his official statement said, “Representing the PMs XI is a tremendous honour for any player given its rich history spanning across eight decades. This year’s match also presents an opportunity for players to impress against arguably the strongest side in world cricket.”

India will also have an intra-squad warm-up at the WACA from November 15-18. They will reach Australia after playing a three-match home Test series against New Zealand.

The tour is scheduled to begin on November 22, 2024 with the first Test at the Perth Stadium. The second Test, a day-night affair, will be played at the Adelaide Oval from December 6-10.

The third Test will take place in Brisbane, where it is slated to be played at The Gabba from December 14-18. The fourth Test will be held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), starting on the Boxing Day. The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) will host the fifth and final Test from January 3-7.

India, who were previously bowled out for a paltry 36 in the day-night Test on their previous tour of Australia (2020-21), will be looking to improve their record against the pink ball, while Australia will aim to capitalize on their home conditions.
