David Warner hints at taking a U-turn from retirement; shows interest in the Champions Trophy 2025

Australian cricketer David Warner has officially announced his retirement from international cricket. Warner played his final international match against India during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, concluding a stellar career that has left an indelible mark on the sport.

David Warner hints at potential comeback

During the T20 World Cup, Warner showcased his skills by scoring 178 runs across seven matches, maintaining an average of 29.66 and an impressive strike rate of 139.06. Although he has stepped away from international cricket, Warner remains open to participating in the Australian squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in February.

I will continue to play franchise cricket for a while, and I’m also open to playing for Australia in the Champions Trophy if selected,” Warner wrote on his Instagram page.

David Warner: A stellar International and IPL career

Warner’s international career statistics are a testament to his prowess on the field. Over 383 matches, he accumulated 18,995 runs, including 49 centuries, with an average of 42.39 and a strike rate of 86.56. His aggressive batting style and consistency have made him a formidable force in cricket.

Warner’s impact extends beyond international cricket, particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, having played 184 matches and amassed 6,556 runs at an average of 40.52 and a strike rate of 139.77. Warner’s outstanding performances in the IPL have earned him the prestigious Orange Cap three times, a record unmatched in the league’s history.
