In recent days, a video claiming to show Virat Kohli criticizing his Indian cricket teammate Shubman Gill has gone viral across social media platforms. The video features Kohli making what appear to be harsh comments about Gill, leading many fans to question the nature of their relationship and the future of Indian cricket.

The viral video of Virat Kohli

In the video, Kohli said that while Shubman Gill is undoubtedly talented and has a solid technique, there is a significant difference between showing potential and achieving legendary status in cricket.

When we came back from Australia, I figured out what it takes to succeed at the highest level. I have been watching Gill closely. He is talented, no doubt. But there’s a big gap between showing promise and becoming a legend. Gill’s technique is solid, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Virat emphasized that while people may talk about finding the next Kohli, he believes there is only one of him. He highlighted his extensive experience facing challenging bowlers and performing under pressure consistently over a decade, asserting that such achievements cannot be duplicated by a few standout innings alone.

People talk about the next Virat Kohli, but let me be clear, there’s only one Virat Kohli. I have faced the toughest bowlers, delivered in the most intense situations, and done it consistently for over a decade. You can’t replicate that with just a few good innings.

Kohli’s statement emphasizes that if he makes a mistake, he simply supports the team from the sidelines. He positions himself as a high standard in Indian cricket, suggesting that Gill has a long way to go to reach that level of excellence.

If I make the wrong decision, I sit outside and I clap all day. In Indian cricket, there’s the God, and then there’s me. That’s the benchmark. Gill has a long way to go before reaching that level.”

The truth behind the video

However, it has been revealed that this video is not genuine. The clip is a fake, created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to mimic Kohli’s voice and appearance. The original interview, where Kohli may have discussed cricketing challenges or his own experiences, was altered to falsely portray criticism of Gill.

The video was crafted to mislead viewers by using advanced technology to replicate Kohli’s voice and mannerisms. The former Indian skipper’s actual statements and public interactions with Gill remain consistently supportive, reinforcing the idea that the viral video does not reflect his true sentiments.

Kohli has not made any derogatory remarks about Gill. Fans can rest assured that the camaraderie and respect between the two cricketers remain intact. The viral video is a clear example of how technology can be misused to create misleading content and stir unnecessary controversy.
