Fans go gaga as Dhruv Jurel's explosive innings and Ravi Bishnoi's 4-wicket haul humble Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026 thriller

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad witnessed a high-octane thriller on the night of April 04, 2026, as the Rajasthan Royals (RR) edge out the Gujarat Titans (GT) by a narrow margin of 6 runs. In what was the 9th match of the IPL 2026 season, the clash lived up to the massive pre-game hype, featuring a blend of clinical power-hitting and a masterclass in leg-spin bowling that left the home crowd in stunned silence.

Dhruv Jurel goes ballistic as RR post a towering total

Opting to set a target, Rajasthan Royals’ innings was a blueprint for modern T20 batting. While Yashasvi Jaiswal laid a rock-solid foundation with a blistering 55 off 36 balls, it was Dhruv Jurel who stole the spotlight. Coming in at a crucial juncture, Jurel played an innings of pure aggression, smashing 75 runs off just 42 deliveries. His knock was decorated with 7 fours and 1 maximum, maintaining a strike rate of 178.57.

Jurel’s ability to manipulate the field forced GT’s premium bowlers onto the back foot. Even the experienced Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada struggled to find their lengths as RR cruised past the 200-mark. A late cameo by Jofra Archer and Ravindra Jadeja ensured RR finished at a formidable 210/6. Despite Rabada picking up two wickets, the GT bowling unit lacked the bite required to stem the flow of runs in the death overs.

Ravi Bishnoi’s four-Wicket masterclass dismantles GT’s chase

Chasing 211 was never going to be easy, but Gujarat Titans started with intent. Sai Sudharsan looked in sublime touch, anchoring the innings with a valiant 73 off 44 balls. At 78/0 during the first strategic timeout, GT seemed to be in total control. However, the introduction of the Impact Player, Ravi Bishnoi, completely flipped the script.

Bishnoi turned the match into a personal highlight reel. He first removed the dangerous Sudharsan, then proceeded to tear through the middle order. In a devastating spell, he claimed the wickets of Glenn Phillips (3), Washington Sundar (4), and the “finisher” Rahul Tewatia (12). Bishnoi’s final figures of 4/41 proved to be the difference-maker.

The drama escalated in the final over with GT needing a miracle. Rashid Khan kept the hopes alive with a quick-fire 24 off 16, but his dismissal in the penultimate delivery ended the chase. GT finished at 204/8, falling just 6 runs short.
