Delhi Capitals delivered a composed all-round performance to register a convincing seven-wicket victory over UP Warriorz in Match 7 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the Capitals kept things tight with the ball before riding on a fluent half-century from Lizelle Lee to seal the chase with ease.
UP Warriorz Women found momentum hard to come by despite a solid top-order effort. An early setback came when Kiran Prabhu Navgire was dismissed for a duck, putting immediate pressure on the innings. However, Meg Lanning held the innings together with a well-crafted 54 off 38 balls, striking nine boundaries and a six to anchor the Warriorz innings.

Lanning received good support from Harleen Deol, who played a mature knock of 47 from 36 deliveries, rotating the strike well and finding the gaps consistently. Phoebe Litchfield also chipped in with a brisk 27, ensuring the Warriorz remained competitive through the middle overs. However, Delhi’s bowlers struck at crucial intervals to prevent a late surge.
Marizanne Kapp led the bowling effort with figures of 2 for 24 in her four overs, applying pressure both in the powerplay and at the death. Shafali Verma impressed with the ball as well, picking up two wickets while conceding just 16 runs in her four overs. Sneh Rana and Nallapureddy Charani also contributed with a wicket apiece, restricting UP Warriorz Women to 154 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Lizelle Lee anchors Delhi Capitals’ successful chase
In reply, Delhi Capitals Women approached the chase with clarity and control. Shafali Verma and Lee provided a steady start, ensuring there was no early wobble. While Shafali fell for 36, Lee continued to dominate the bowling, showcasing her power and timing en route to an impressive 67 off 44 balls, which included eight fours and three sixes.
Laura Wolvaardt added stability in the middle order with a composed 25, while Jemimah Rodrigues finished the chase in style with a quick 21 off 14 balls. The Capitals reached 158 for 3 in 20 overs, never allowing the required run rate to spiral out of control.
