Jasprit Bumrah hugs Virat Kohli after the conclusion of Sydney Test

Jasprit Bumrah has etched his name in the annals of cricket history by equalling the charts of an Indian fast bowler with the most wickets in a Test series, claiming an impressive 32 scalps during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. His remarkable performance not only led him to be named Player of the Series but also set a new record for the highest number of wickets taken by an Indian seamer in an away Test series.

Bumrah has won the Player of the Series award in three of the SENA countries – South Africa, England and Australia – leaving New Zealand as the only one left on his list.

Jasprit Bumrah equals Kapil Dev’s record

Bumrah’s achievements in this series were noteworthy, as he averaged just 13.06, showcasing his exceptional skill and consistency. His standout moments included two five-wicket hauls, with best figures of 6 for 76, which played a crucial role in India’s efforts throughout the series. This performance equalled the previous record held by legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, who also had notable performances with 32 wickets against Pakistan in the 1979-80 season.
