In a thrilling moment during the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Litton Das produced a brilliant piece of wicketkeeping to dismiss Pakistan’s Saim Ayub, shifting the momentum in the ongoing match. The dismissal occurred during the 33rd over of Pakistan’s first innings, just when the team seemed to be gaining a foothold in the contest.

Litton Das’ brilliant stumping dismissal

The architect of the dismissal was Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who set the stage beautifully. Bowling to  Ayub, Mehidy cleverly adjusted his pace, anticipating Ayub’s aggressive intent. Ayub, who had been looking increasingly comfortable at the crease, attempted a wild slog against the flighted delivery. However, Mehidy’s guile outfoxed him—slowing the ball just enough to force Ayub into mistiming his shot entirely. Missing the ball by a significant margin, Ayub was left stranded as Das swiftly removed the bails in a textbook stumping.

Without even waiting for the third umpire’s decision, Ayub walked off, knowing the damage was done. His wicket came at a crucial juncture for Pakistan, as he was well-set with a composed 58 off 110 deliveries, including four boundaries and two sixes. The dismissal also broke a century partnership for the second wicket between Ayub and Pakistan’s captain Shan Masood, who was dismissed shortly after scoring a well-earned 57.

Pakistan faces pressure on Day 2 of second Test

Bangladesh had clawed back into the game. Pakistan found themselves at 229 for the loss of six wickets after 71 overs in their first innings. Although the day began with Pakistan in a strong position, Bangladesh’s bowlers capitalized on the dismissals of both set batters, disrupting Pakistan’s batting lineup.

The pressure is now mounting on Pakistan. Having suffered a crushing defeat by 10 wickets in the first Test of the two-match series, Pakistan are desperate for a comeback. Although they cannot win the series, salvaging a draw remains possible. A victory in the second Test would help restore some pride and balance the series.

With Pakistan needing a strong performance to level the series, the focus shifts to the lower-order batters to carry the innings forward and give their bowlers a competitive total to defend.
