Dhawan’s stellar IPL career and international legacy
Notably, Dhawan retired earlier this year as one of the top run-scorers in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In his illustrious IPL career, Dhawan scored 6,769 runs in 222 matches, with an impressive tally of two centuries and 51 half-centuries. He holds the record as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament’s history, only behind Virat Kohli, who leads with 8,004 runs from 252 matches.
On the international front, Dhawan represented India across all three formats. He played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, accumulating a total of 10,867 runs, which included 24 centuries and 55 half-centuries. A crucial member of India’s 2013 Champions Trophy-winning squad under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, Dhawan also featured in the 2015 and 2019 editions of the ODI World Cup.
A new chapter in Nepal Premier League
Dhawan’s participation in the Nepal Premier League marks an exciting new chapter in his career and offers fans in Nepal the chance to witness his iconic batting style firsthand. His experience and skill will not only strengthen Karnali Yaks’ lineup but also elevate the profile of the NPL, drawing attention from international audiences. With Dhawan in their ranks, Yaks are expected to be strong contenders for the title in this year’s tournament.
