Shoaib Bashir delivered a standout performance in the recent Test match between England and the West Indies. His exceptional spell was crucial, as he secured a match-winning five-wicket haul, conceding just 41 runs from his 12 overs, translating to a commendable economy rate of 3.67. During both innings, Bashir took seven wickets, including two in the first, with an economy rate of 4.32.

Shoaib Bashir’s sarcastic comment

Bashir’s most talked-about moment came when he took the wicket of West Indies batsman Alick Athanaze. His celebration was not just a display of joy but also a highlight of the match. Inspired by footballer Cole Palmer, Bashir mimicked Palmer’s trendy “cold” celebration. His teammates mobbed him as he shivered dramatically, feigning chills, turning the cricket pitch into a momentary stage for a football-inspired performance.

Speaking to a reporter after the match, Bashir clarified that his celebration was not a direct imitation of Palmer’s. He recounted how his teammates had been mentioning Palmer, an unfamiliar name. Bashir commented with a hint of sarcasm, “Maybe he copied me. That is a natural celebration; I do not watch football that much! I did the celebration, and guys were saying, ‘There’s Cole Palmer.’ And I do not watch football that much!”
