On the third delivery of the 36th over, Parag delivered a well-placed leg-spinner that failed to turn, deceiving Fernando. Expecting the ball to spin, Fernando was caught off guard and struck on the pad in front of the stumps. Although the umpire’s decision was out, Fernando opted against reviewing it. Ultimately, he fell just short of a century, concluding his innings with a commendable 96 runs from 102 balls, featuring 9 fours and 2 sixes. His teammates and coach rose from the dugout to give a standing ovation, acknowledging his courageous and remarkable effort.
