During Match 20 of the Caribbean Premier League 2024 (CPL), Andre Russell showcased a remarkable moment of fast bowling brilliance when he clean-bowled Kofi James with a stunning yorker during a game between Trinbago Knight Riders and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. However, despite Russell’s electrifying dismissal, the Falcons comfortably chased down their target to win by six wickets with an over to spare.
Andre Russell’s blazing yorker
The incident occurred in the fourth over of the Falcons’ run chase. Russell, known for his lethal pace and accuracy, delivered a scorching yorker that pierced through James’ defense. The ball zipped under his bat and crashed into the middle and leg stumps, leaving James no chance to respond. The Antigua batter, who had scored 10 runs off 15 balls, was left stunned as Russell celebrated the wicket with fiery passion. This moment injected some energy into the match, but it wasn’t enough to alter the course of the game.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons secures victory with controlled chase
Earlier in the match, Knight Riders struggled to put up a commanding total, finishing their 20 overs at 134/8. Captain Kieron Pollard stood out as the top scorer for his side, playing a crucial knock of 47 runs off 37 balls, including two boundaries and four towering sixes. However, the rest of the TKR batting line-up faltered, failing to build substantial partnerships around their skipper. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons’ bowlers maintained disciplined lines, restricting TKR from gaining momentum in the middle overs.
Chasing a modest target of 135, Falcons kept their cool throughout the innings. Justin Greaves was the backbone of their chase, playing a steady knock of 46 runs from 48 balls, including four boundaries, before being retired out. His measured approach ensured that the Falcons never lost control of the chase despite a few hiccups along the way. The Falcons successfully overhauled the target in 19 overs, finishing at 135/4. Greaves was named Player of the Match for his composed innings, which laid the foundation for Falcons’ successful chase. His contribution with the bat was crucial in guiding the team home and securing an important win in the tournament.
