Jasprit Bumrah is known for his astonishing deliveries and taking wickets for the team when they need it the most. Something of a similar sort happened at the opening day of the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne when he hunted down the Australian batter whose wicket the Indian team desperately needed.
Jasprit Bumrah shuts Travis Head for a duck
It started as Travis Head arrived on the crease with Washington Sundar getting rid of Marnus Labuschagne who had settled down on the pitch, taking Australia to 237 runs in 65 overs. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma recalled Bumrah with the hope of putting some pressure on the Aussies after the dismissal of a set batter. Bumrah’s over turned out to be exactly that for the Indians as on the third delivery of his spell, a closely knit fourth stump ball hitting the bails with Head clueless as to what to do with the incoming ball. Head had to return back to the dressing room facing just 7 balls at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Head’s impressive record against India
The 31-year-old top-order batter has an impressive record against India. Head has been a major upset for the Indian bowling line up, putting up runs against the likes of Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj. Head has scored 1124 runs with an average of 48.86 against India in Tests with 3 centuries. The most recent ton he scored against India was an impeccable 152-run knock in the first innings of the third Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. This was Head’s first duck against India in international cricket. However, Head is still the leading run scorer in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The left-handed batter has scored 409 runs at an average of 68.17, including two centuries and a fifty.
