His remarkable bowling average of 10.70 and an economy rate of 5.26 were instrumental in propelling India to the finals against Australia. Following the World Cup, Shami underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon in February 2024, causing him to miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 edition for the Gujrat Titans.
