Rahul Dravid’s coaching journey: A legacy of success

Dravid’s association with Rajasthan Royals is not new. After an illustrious playing career, which saw him establish himself as one of the greatest cricketers in the world, Dravid first joined the Rajasthan Royals as a mentor in 2014, shortly after his retirement from international cricket.

Dravid’s coaching journey took a significant turn in 2015 when he was appointed the head coach of India’s Under-19 and India A teams. His impact on the younger generation of cricketers was immediately felt, as he played a pivotal role in nurturing talents like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Prithvi Shaw. Under his guidance, India’s Under-19 team clinched the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2018, further cementing his reputation as a master tactician and a mentor.

In November 2021, Dravid was named the head coach of the Indian national cricket team. His tenure saw India achieve multiple milestones, including a historic victory in the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024. However, after the successful World Cup campaign, Dravid’s time as India’s head coach came to an end in June 2024.

Recently, Dravid was reappointed by the Rajasthan Royals as their head coach on a multi-year contract, marking his return to the Indian Premier League (IPL). His presence is expected to further strengthen the Royals’ strategies and talent development, as the franchise looks forward to building a strong, competitive team for the upcoming IPL seasons.
