During the third ODI between Sri Lanka and India, chants of “RCB, RCB” reverberated through the stands at the R. Premadasa stadium in Colombo.

Despite the Indian cricket team’s disappointing series defeat to Sri Lanka, loyal Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans showed up in large numbers to support their favorite players as Team India boarded the bus following an embarrassing series defeat.

 “RCB, RCB” chants in Colombo

The Indian Premier League (IPL) global appeal was evident as RCB fans showed up to support their beloved team members even in an international setting. RCB, one of the most recognized franchises in the IPL, has garnered a massive fan following, largely due to the presence of Virat Kohli. Kohli has been a part of RCB since the inception of the IPL and has led the team for several seasons, further cementing his status as a fan favorite.

The enthusiastic RCB supporters, draped in their team’s iconic red and black colors, made their presence felt with loud chants of “Ee Sala Cup Namdhe” (This time, the cup is ours) and “King Kohli” in honor of their star player. This display of unwavering loyalty highlighted the deep connection fans have with the IPL franchise, regardless of the outcome of international matches.

Virat Kohli’s performance in the ODI series

India faced a disheartening 2-0 series loss in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The third ODI saw RCB fans trying to uplift the spirits of the Indian team with their chants. The series exposed significant weaknesses in India’s performance, leaving fans and critics alike deeply disappointed and questioning the team’s preparedness and strategy.

This victory marked a significant milestone for Sri Lanka. It was their first bilateral series win over India in 27 years, with their previous triumph dating back to 1997.

One of the most notable aspects of the series was veteran cricketer Kohli’s underwhelming performance. Known for his consistency and aggressive batting, the Delhi-lad struggled to find form throughout the series. Over the three matches, he scored only 59 runs, averaging a disappointing 19.33. This lackluster performance has raised concerns about his form ahead of upcoming tournaments.
