Tim Seifert‘s explosive batting performance led the Saint Lucia Kings to a stunning victory over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their first match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024.

The game, held on Sunday, at the Warner Park Stadium in St Kitts, featured a remarkable moment when Seifert’s powerful six against Tabraiz Shamsi sent the ball sailing onto the road outside the stadium.

During the fifth match of the CPL 2024, Seifert’s impressive display of skill came when he faced Shamsi in the 17th over. After a no-ball had granted him a free hit, Seifert seized the opportunity and danced down the track, expertly dispatching Shamsi’s delivery over cow corner for a colossal six.

The shot highlighted Seifert’s aggressive intent and significant role in the match, contributing 64 runs off just 27 balls at a staggering strike rate of 237.04, which included four fours and six sixes.

Saint Lucia Kings chases 202 to win their CPL 2024 opener 

Batting first, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots set a formidable target by posting 201/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Evin Lewis led from the front with a scintillating unbeaten century, scoring 100 not out with the aid of seven fours and nine sixes. Alongside him, Kyle Mayers provided robust support with a blistering 92 runs, peppered with six boundaries and seven maximums. Their partnership established a daunting target of 202 runs for the Saint Lucia Kings.

In response, the Saint Lucia Kings exhibited remarkable resilience and power. Sri Lankan star Bhanuka Rajapaksa spearheaded the chase with an unbeaten 68 off just 35 balls, punctuated by six fours and four sixes. Seifert’s explosive innings, combined with Rajapaksa’s brilliance, propelled the Kings to a triumphant 202/5 in just 17.2 overs. The Saint Lucia Kings secured a comprehensive five-wicket victory, showcasing their attacking prowess and resilience in their CPL 2024 first match.
