Previous heroics in the One-Day Cup and overall impact
Chahal’s exceptional form extends beyond red-ball cricket. In his only One-Day Cup match for Northamptonshire, he delivered another five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/14 against Kent, his former team.
Chahal’s contributions have made him a valuable asset to Northamptonshire in the ongoing English summer. Despite a slow start in his first two County Championship matches, where he managed only one wicket, the leg-spinner has now hit his stride. His outstanding performance against Derbyshire reinforces his growing importance to Northamptonshire’s campaign this season.
Last representation for India
Chahal had a brief stint with Kent in the County Championship Division One last year, where he took nine wickets in two matches. Chahal last represented India in a warm-up match against Bangladesh during the T20 World Cup 2024 in New York. Although selected for the tournament, Chahal did not feature in any of India’s official matches. However, his current county performances may serve as a reminder of his capabilities across formats.
