The West Indies women’s cricket team will be without their star all-rounder Stafanie Taylor for the upcoming white-ball series in India. According to a statement from Cricket West Indies (CWI), the 33-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation for an injury and will miss the three T20Is and three ODIs scheduled for the tour.

The three-match T20I leg will take place in Mumbai from Decemeber 15 to 19, while the tour ends with three ODIs in Vadodara from December 22 to 27. This will be the West Indies’ first white-ball series in India since 2016, when they dominated the T20Is (3-0) but lost the ODI rubber (0-3).

Deandra Dottin set for ODI comeback

The tour marks the return of star all-rounder Deandra Dottin to West Indies’ ODI squad. Dottin, who came out of international retirement earlier this year during the T20 World Cup in the UAE, has not played an ODI since March 2022. Her recent performances in white-ball cricket, including a standout showing in the 2024 T20 World Cup and WBBL, have been impressive, earning her a place in the squad.

Other key inclusions

Fast bowler Shabika Gajnabi and wicketkeeper-batter Rashada Williams are back in the squad for both ODIs and T20Is after missing out on the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

The team will be led by captain Hayley Matthews, with Shemaine Campbelle serving as her deputy.

“We want to take the good momentum we gained at the T20 World Cup into this series,” Shane Deitz, the West Indies coach, said in his official statement. “We showed that we can compete against the top teams, which was pleasing.”
