The wait is over! After weeks of speculation, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has finally announced Justin Sammons as their new head coach. Sammons will take charge of the Chevrons ahead of their upcoming five-match T20I series against India, starting on July 6.
Justin Sammons replaces Dave Houghton
This appointment comes after a rigorous selection process, as previous coach Dave Houghton stepped down from the role in the wake of Zimbabwe failing to qualify for the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Sammons will be supported by former Zimbabwean cricketer Dion Ebrahim, who has been signed as the assistant coach.
“We are delighted to confirm Justin as Head Coach of the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team,” said ZC chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani in his official statement.
“He brings a wealth of coaching experience and a reputation of identifying, nurturing and developing some of the best young talent in South Africa. His hard-working and passionate approach as well as sense of values on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward.”
