The inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) is all set to kickstart on July 13 at the Grand Prairie stadium in Texas. Notably, the Grand Prairie will host the first eight matches before Church Street Park in North Carolina takes the middle block of matches.
This will be followed by the elimination matches which will be played at the Grand Prairie stadium in Texas. Texas Super Kings will lock horns with Los Angeles Knight Riders in the curtain raiser of the top-tier league in the United States. The 19-day long event will conclude with the summit clash which will take place on July 30.
The Eliminator match will see the third and fourth seeds face off on Thursday, July 27. On the same date, in the evening, the top two seeds will compete in the Qualifier match and the winner will advance directly to the MLC championship final. The winner of the Eliminator will lock horns with the losing team of the Qualifier in the ‘Challenger Match’ on Friday, July 28, for the last spot in the summit clash.
As many as six franchises will take part in the competition, namely- Los Angeles Knight Riders, San Francisco Unicorns, MI New York, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, Washington Freedom. West Indies great Kieron Pollard will captain the New York-based franchise, which features Rashid Khan, Nicholas Pooran, and Trent Boult among others in their star-studded line-up.
The Knight Riders Group-backed Los Angeles have solid players such as Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Jason Roy in their setup for the forthcoming season. On the other hand, Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, Mitchell Santner, and Devon Conway, who have played for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, will don the yellow outfit the Texas-based franchise.
Quinton de Kock, Dasun Shanaka, Wayne Parnell are among top player of the Seattle Orcas. Moises Henriques will lead Washington Freedom, who also have Adam Milne, Glenn Phillips and Anrich Nortje part of their squad. Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis, and Lungi Ngidi will feature for the San Francisco Unicorns.
