The second ODI of the highly anticipated three-match series between Australia and West Indies in Hyderabad lived up to its billing, offering fans a rollercoaster of emotions and unforgettable moments. While many instances stood out, it was Josh Hazlewood‘s unplayable delivery that dismissed West Indies skipper Shai Hope that truly stole the spotlight, leaving both the batter and spectators in awe.

Sean Abbott shines with the bat

In the first innings, Australia set a challenging target of 259, posting a total of 258/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Sean Abbott emerged as the hero with a dynamic innings of 69 runs off 63 balls, featuring one four and four sixes. Matthew Short (41) and Cameron Green (33) provided crucial supporting roles. Gudakesh Motie starred with the ball for the visitors, claiming three wickets for 28 runs in his 10-over spell.

West Indies’ struggle and Josh Hazlewood’s brilliance

Facing a daunting task in their innings, West Indies struggled and were eventually bowled out for 175 in 43.3 overs. Keacy Carty‘s resilient 40 and Hope’s 29 were the notable performances. Hazlewood led the Australian bowling attack, securing three wickets for 43 runs. Abbott and Will Sutherland also made significant contributions with three and two wickets, respectively.

The unplayable jaffa: Hazlewood stuns Shai Hope

Among Hazlewood’s three wickets, it was the dismissal of Hope that left fans captivated. In the 23rd over, Hazlewood delivered a length ball just outside off that not only sharply nipped back but also maintained a slightly lower trajectory, creating a challenging scenario for Hope.

With a noticeable gap between bat and pad, the ball expertly threaded through, catching Hope off guard and hitting the off-stump emphatically. It was a delivery of exceptional quality, leaving the Caribbean skipper answerless. The same was evident through the reaction on Hope’s face after the dismissal.
