On February 6, 2021, Sydney Sixers became just the second team in the history of the Big Bash League to win three BBL titles.
Sydney Sixers were just a different team in the Big Bash League 2021. They finished at the top of the points table during the group stage. They won nine games out of 14 during the league stage and finished with 36 points.
They had match-winners throughout their line-up and had players who stepped up during the crucial moments of the tournament. Ben Dwarshuis finished as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament and he was consistent throughout the tournament with his line and length.
His ability to take wickets at crucial stages of the game as well as breaking pivotal partnerships helped Sixers win a lot of key encounters.
Josh Philippe and James Vince were at the heart of the Sydney Sixers batting line-up and both finished in the top-three run-getters list of the 2020-21 season of the BBL. Both scored over 500 runs in the season and it included some vital knocks at the top that helped the side finish strongly.
James Vince’s 95 off 60 balls in the final against Perth Scorchers was a crucial knock as it helped them clinch the silverware. By virtue of his knock, Vince was awarded the Player of the Match in the summit clash.
All-rounder Dan Christian was one of the prominent figures for Sydney Sixers in the 2020-21 BBL season as he scored 272 runs and claimed 15 wickets for the side. His role was pretty clear from the start as he had to finish the games and close out the innings with some great cameos.
