In the history of sports, certain moments shine brighter than the rest. One such moment etched in the memory of cricket fans worldwide is the day when Yuvraj Singh demolished England’s Stuart Broad with six consecutive sixes in an over during the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007.

India was playing against England in the Super Eight phase of the T20 World Cup. After a heated exchange with Andrew Flintoff, Yuvraj was all set to unleash his hard-hitting prowess. Stuart Broad had to bear the brunt of Yuvraj’s aggression, facing an onslaught that left cricket fans awe-struck.

In that over, Yuvraj dispatched each delivery with remarkable precision. The first three sixes went to different parts of the field, the fourth was a full toss that found its way to the backward point, making it four sixes in a row.

The fifth was a powerful hit over midwicket, and the sixth, the historic one, sailed over mid-on. The commentator’s ecstatic words, “And he has put it away…YES! Six sixes in an over. Yuvraj Singh finishes things off in style!” added the perfect finishing touch to this iconic moment.

Yuvraj’s incredible display of hitting prowess not only earned him a place in the record books but also led India to a formidable total of 218/4 in 20 overs. His 12-ball fifty remains the fastest in T20I history with a strike rate of 362.50. This stunning performance paved the way for India’s victory by 18 runs.

Yuvraj played a pivotal role in India’s World T20 triumph in 2007 and was a standout performer in the 2011 Cricket World Cup as well, where he scored over 300 runs and took 15 wickets.

Yuvraj’s retirement from all forms of cricket in 2019 marked the end of an era, but his unforgettable six sixes against England in 2007 will continue to be celebrated by cricket fans as one of the most iconic moments in the history of the sport.
