The Babar Azam-led Pakistan are all set to host New Zealand for a five-match T20I series followed by as many ODI matches. The two sides will square off in the first T20I clash at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday, April 14. The home side will look to stamp its authority against the tourists in the five-match series by putting on some sensational performances with the bat and with the ball. Ahead of the exciting T20I series, we take a look at the top three batters to watch out for from Pakistan’s camp.
Saim Ayub
The 20-year-old Saim Ayub relished a decent outing in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Karachi-born southpaw got 341 runs in 12 games and laced it with five half-centuries for Peshawar Zalmi. He could prove to be a lethal asset in the top-order for the Men in Green and will look to put his best foot forward for the side in the series.
Fakhar Zaman
Fakhar was among the top run-getters in the recent PSL for Lahore Qalandars as he put on impressive batting performances for the side. Aggregating 429 runs in 13 matches, the batter notched up a century and two half-centuries in the top-tier league. He will be raring to score big runs and target the Black Caps bowling unit in the upcoming series.
Babar Azam
One of the finest batters in recent times, skipper Babar Azam will mark his return into the XI after taking a break during the Afghanistan series. Prior to that, Babar had an outstanding stint in the eighth season of the PSL as he notched up his maiden century and got five fifties, concluding with 522 runs in 11 matches as the second highest run getter. Getting the runs and raising important partnerships will not be tricky for the solid batter and he will look to deliver the goods with his terrific batting exploits.
