After a terrible season last time around, Karachi Kings have let their skipper Babar Azam leave the franchise and appointed Imad Wasim as the new leader of the locker room. They have also released some of the key players but retained their core squad which includes players like Haider Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir and Shoaib Malik among many others. On top of that, they have added T20 specialists like James Vince, Matthew Wade and Imran Tahir, who can help Karachi once again fight for the title.
However, their bowling unit lacks depth and that will be a massive concern for the team management in the upcoming season. Thus, the batters need to take extra responsibility and at times may have to bail the team out of a difficult position.
Meanwhile, the franchise will play their first game against Peshawar Zalmi on February 14 at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi. Ahead of that, here’s a list of three players from Karachi Kings who can take the eighth edition of PSL by storm.
Three players to watch out for from Karachi Kings
1. James Vince
The 31-year-old James Vince has been sensational in the shortest format of the game in the recent past. He is currently playing for Gulf Giants in the ongoing ILT20 and has amassed 321 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 138.96. Thus, he is in spectacular form and can wreak havoc in the upcoming Pakistan Super League.
Notably, he is likely to open with Sharjeel Khan in the upcoming season and, if these two play their natural cricket, the Karachi supporters will be up for a treat in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, the England international has played 321 T20 matches so far in his career and has scored 8602 runs at a strike rate of 134.15.
2. Mohammad Amir
Ace pacer Mohammad Amir will be Karachi’s leader of the bowling unit. He has vast experience in the shortest format of the game and most importantly, the cricketer will be eager to do well considering he is eyeing to make a return to the Pakistan set-up in the white-ball formats.
So far, the 30-year-old has played 241 T20 matches and picked up 277 wickets at an economy of 7.09. Along with Imran Tahir, he will be very important for Karachi in the coming season.
3. Shoaib Malik
The veteran Shoaib Malik will provide the much-needed stability for Karachi in the middle order. He has vast experience in the format and is playing some brilliant cricket in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Batting in the middle order, he has scored 279 runs in ten matches of the tournament.
Overall, the 41-year-old has scored 12328 runs in 501 T20 matches that he has played in his career. Now interestingly, this is going to be a very important season for the cricketer as if he fails to put up a show this time around, his hopes of making an international return will come to a definite end.
