In a riveting encounter at Kingsmead, the 12th match of the SA20 2024 tournament witnessed an electrifying performance from Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who clinched victory by five wickets against Durban Super Giants. While both teams displayed commendable performances, it was Tristan Stubbs‘ monumental six that left spectators in awe and stole the limelight.

Wiaan Mulder’s brilliant efforts

Choosing to bat first, the Super Giants posted a competitive total of 159/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Wiaan Mulder’s explosive knock of 52 runs off 29 balls, featuring three fours and four sixes, set the tone for their innings. Heinrich Klaasen‘s quickfire 31 off 17 balls added crucial runs. However, Simon Harmer emerged as the standout bowler for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, claiming four wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs.

Tristan Stubbs shines for Sunrisers Eastern Cape

In pursuit of 160, Sunrisers Eastern Cape showcased determination, reaching the target with four balls to spare. Stubbs played a pivotal role, smashing 66 runs off 37 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Aiden Markram‘s 38 runs and Jordan Hermann‘s 25 runs provided a solid foundation for the successful chase. Despite a couple of quick wickets, Marco Jansen‘s aggressive 24 off 14 balls ensured Sunrisers Eastern Cape crossed the finish line.

Stubbs sends the ball out of the park

Among the three sixes that Stubbs smashed, one particular shot left everyone stunned. Facing Reece Topley, Stubbs launched a lightning-fast bat to send the ball way back out of the park. The moment unfolded with Topley delivering a full and in-the-slot ball on the stumps. Stubbs, exhibiting remarkable skill, flicked the ball over deep mid-wicket. The ball landed on the roof before bouncing onto the road outside the ground, leaving the crowd in awe.
