HL: “My training is going well” – Star allrounder Deepak Niwas Hooda opens up on his road to comeback in National side

Star India Kabaddi player Deepak Niwas Hooda has expressed his dream to make return to the Indian team. The 28-year-old allrounder has expressed his belief in the process as he is preparing for the Senior Nationals and Asian Games. Hooda who was in Delhi to support his wife Sweety Boora in the finals of Women’s World Boxing Championships. Star India boxer defeated her Chinese opponent in the finals by split decision in 81kg weight category.  

Hooda who was present in the stands to support his wife carried her on his shoulders after she clinched the gold medal in the event. After the event the star couple interacted with media and spoke about their future plans. Hooda while speaking with media revealed about his future plans and how he is working to make a comeback in national squad. 

Speaking with media Deepak Hooda said, “My training is going well but the whole focus now is on Saweety. She became the Asian champions a few months back and is having a great tournament here. We have the Senior National Championships next month and the squad for the Asian Games will be selected based on the performance there.”

China is set to host Asian Games 2023 

Hooda further spoke about how Sweety compliments him while injuries. He said, “We both understand each other pretty well in the tough phases. In sports, we come across many losses and to get back to form we need good support. As we both are top-level athletes, we complement each other well. We have suffered from injuries on multiple occasions. Saweety once travelled along with me to Mumbai for my treatment and even I take care of her. During the injury phase, someone needs to provide support to recover quickly.”

According to Hooda he is currently looking forward to playing in the Senior National kabaddi championships which are set to be held next month. Notably, after considering the results of the Senior Nationals, the team for the Asian Games will be chosen. The former Indian captain did not have a good season with Bengal Warriors in the Pro Kabaddi League season 9.
