In a shocking incident, a policeman was brutally murdered by kabaddi players in Punjab’s Barnala on Sunday (October 22) night. The incident took place at a restaurant/bar at 22-acre market in Burnala. After the kabaddi players refused to pay for the drink, the owners called the police officer to the spot to handle the issue.

An eyewitness told NDTV that the four players were asked to get into the police car by the cops after they refused to solve the issue. The angry players immediately attacked the officer. They pushed him and he fell and injured his head. As reported by Times Now, the deceased police officer has been identified as Head Constable Darshan Singh.

Other policemen rushed Darshan to the hospital but could not help him as he died before receiving treatment. As soon as the police left the spot, the four kabaddi players disappeared from the shop. It is reported that Darshan has been working at Barnala City 1 Police Station for a long time.

As the incident led to massive tension in the city, the police ensured heavy patrolling. It is a shame for the sport of Kabaddi as such an act from players would ruin the reputation of the game as well. Meanwhile, last month, a fight broke out at a bar in Noida’s Garden Galleria mall after some people got into a heated argument and threw bottles at each other. In a video that has gone viral on social media, two groups of men were seen having a serious physical fight.

“It started when two men from each side got into an argument, which later escalated. they have not filed any complaint. However, the police called both parties and talked to them. We also issued challan as a preventive measure to pre-empt breach of peace under Section 107/116 of CrPC,” ADCP Noida Shakti Mohan Avasthy was quoted saying.
