Kurukshetra University and Guru Kashi University clinch gold in Kabaddi at the Khelo India University Games 2022

Beginning on May 25, four towns in the state of Uttar Pradesh will host the multi-sport Khelo India University Games 2023. KIUG 2023 will take place in Lucknow, Varanasi, Greater Noida, and Gorakhpur for ten days, ending on June 3.

Kurukshetra University, Haryana (women) and Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo (men), both won gold medals in their respective categories in the kabaddi competition at the Khelo India University Games 2022. From May 23 to 27, the games were held in the SVSP Sports Complex Indoor Hall in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

Kurukshetra University’s Pooja competed for Haryana in the gold-winning squad in the 69th Senior National Women’s Kabaddi Championship. Pushpa Rana from Himachal Pradesh led the offense for Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla, on the other hand. In the women’s final, both teams looked powerful, but Kurukshetra University prevailed 32-30 to win the gold medal for the second time in a row.

The events featured several prominent Pro Kabaddi athletes

Several prominent Pro Kabaddi athletes competed in the men’s event, including Himanshu Yadav (Tamil Thalaivas), who represented Guru Kashi University, and Rinku (U Mumba), Manjeet (Dabang Delhi K.C.), Sumit (U.P. Yoddhas), and Dabang Delhi K.C. With a score of 44-36, they easily defeated Chandigarh University, Punjab, winning the championship.

In the men’s division semi-final, Guru Kashi University defeated SRM University by a single point (33-32). While this was going on, Kurukshetra University dominated The University of Burdwan with a decisive 50-27 victory. Emerging kabaddi players from a variety of locations showcased their abilities on the mat during the course of the 5-day competition and established themselves as stars with their breathtaking performances.
