Pro Kabaddi League is set to enter a huge milestone on Monday. The biggest Kabaddi League in the world is set to complete 1000 games when Bengal Warriors take on Bengaluru Bulls.
One player who has been there since the start of the tournament was Maninder Singh. Bengal’s ace raider was part of the Jaipur Pink Panthers team when they took on U Mumba in the first game.
It is also fitting that the 33-year-old is part of the epic moment set to take place on Monday. What makes it more interesting is that the match is set to be played in SMS Indoor Stadium in Jaipur.
Mani-Power set to rock Jaipur
Ahead of the historic match, Maninder Singh took a stroll down memory lane. The 33-year-old speaking to the official media handles of the Pro Kabaddi League. Maninder Singh revealed what it meant to be part of the 1000th game in PKL.
“It feels great that the 1000th PKL match will be played on Monday. I played for Jaipur in the first match and will play the 1000th match in Jaipur. What could be better than that? Kabaddi is a very injury prone sport, so I feel really happy to be around the league for 1000 matches.”
Considered one of the best raiders in the league, there is no record that Maninder Singh doesn’t hold. With the likes of Pawan Sehrawat, Pardeep Narwal, and Naveen Kumar hot on his trails, the 33-year-old hasn’t slowed down.
Bengal Warriors talisman also said “My journey has been really good, and it feels great to have a long career. I am trying to maintain my fitness and keep playing for as long as I can. The game has become very fast bow as compared to the first game. There was never a do-or-die raid in the first season. So, if a team took a big lead, then its opponents found it difficult to make a comeback in the matches”
On Saturday Maninder Singh and his Bengal side beat UP Yoddhas led by Pardeep Narwal with 42-37 margin. The two raiders were in prime form as they led their team from the front. Pardeep Narwal scored 16 points where Maninder got 14 points, but the biggest difference was the defense of Bengal.
