CPL 2024: West Indies superstar announces T20 retirement

Dwayne Bravo, the charismatic West Indies’ all-rounder, has announced his retirement from T20 cricket. In a recent Instagram post, Bravo confirmed that the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will be his last professional tournament.

‘This season will be my last one’

The leading wicket-taker in the T20 cricket had said ‘good bye’ to international cricket after the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“It’s been a great journey. Today I would like to announce my retirement from @cplt20. This season will be my last one and I’m looking forward to a playing my final professional tournament in front of my Caribbean ppl! @tkriders – where it all started for me and will end with my team that I help built from scratch,” the 40-year-old captioned his Instagram post.

Notably, Bravo called time on his Indian Premier League (IPL) career ahead of the 2023 season. In the IPL, he was part of four title-winning campaigns with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

CPL’s leading wicket-taker and entertainment icon

Bravo has dominated the CPL since its inception, establishing himself as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. With 128 wickets in 104 games, Bravo has showcased his exceptional bowling skills and has been a key contributor to his teams’ success.

Beyond his cricketing prowess, Bravo has also captivated fans with his electrifying dance moves, adding a touch of entertainment to the CPL. His charismatic personality and on-field performances have played a significant role in elevating West Indies cricket on the global stage.

Bravo has captained his teams to three CPL championships and has been part of five title-winning squads overall. His consistent performances and leadership qualities have made him an invaluable asset to any team he represents.
