Kambli’s cricket career

Vinod Kambli, known for his close friendship with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, significantly impacted the international cricket scene when he debuted for India in 1991. He was the first Indian batsman to score back-to-back double centuries in Test matches, achieving this feat against Zimbabwe and England in 1993, a moment that filled the nation with pride.

Overall, Kambli played 17 Tests, amassing 1,084 runs. However, his Test career was cut short due to a technical flaw against pace and the short ball, a challenge that he valiantly faced but ultimately led to his career ending before he turned 25. He had a respectable ODI career, scoring 2,477 runs at an average of 32.59 in 104 matches, and represented India in the 1992 and 1996 World Cups.

Kambli scored around 10,000 runs in First Class cricket, with a highest score of 262.
