In the ongoing second Test between Pakistan and England at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Brydon Carse claimed the crucial wicket of Mohammad Rizwan on Day 2, breaking a resilient partnership and giving England a much-needed breakthrough.

The dismissal came in the 92nd over, as Carse, delivering a short-of-length ball, forced Rizwan into a loose push towards the off-side. The ball took a thick outside edge, and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith dived to his right to take a sharp catch, sending Rizwan back for a gritty 41 off 97 balls, which included five boundaries.

Carse’s ability to generate extra bounce proved decisive in Rizwan’s dismissal, halting Pakistan’s steady progress. The breakthrough ended a crucial stand as Pakistan were looking to build on their solid foundation.

Pakistan all out for 366 in the first innings

After Rizwan’s dismissal, Pakistan could add only 102 runs to their first innings total and were eventually bundled out for 366 in the 124th over.

Jack Leach was the pick of the bowlers for England, grabbing four wickets for 114 runs, while Carse (3/50) and Matthew Potts (2-66) also played pivotal roles in keeping Pakistan in check.

Earlier on the opening day of the match, Pakistan’s batting was anchored by Kamran Ghulam, who scored a well-crafted century on his debut, reaching 118, and opener Saim Ayub, who contributed a solid 77. Together, they laid a strong platform, but England’s bowlers kept chipping away at the wickets.
