After a remarkable low-scoring run chase against Sri Lanka culminated in a closely fought two-wicket victory for Bangladesh, the team faltered against South Africa, failing to chase down a modest target of 114.
While the bowlers have exhibited exceptional form throughout the T20 World Cup 2024, the batters have encountered numerous challenges. To stand any chance of advancing to the Super 8, Bangladesh will need a fully cohesive team performance from all members.
Although they have only played four T20Is against the Netherlands, their head-to-head record is favorable, with three victories to their name.

Tanzid Hasan, who opened in both matches, was unable to make a significant impact. Similarly, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, failed to capitalize on his promotion to the opening position after Bangladesh’s initial match.
Both left-handers will be eager to redeem themselves against the Netherlands, aiming to stay at the crease longer than they have managed so far.
Middle-order: Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, and Shakib Al Hasan

Wicketkeeper-batter, Litton Das, following a composed innings of 36 against Sri Lanka, managed only nine runs in the subsequent match.
Young Towhid Hridoy has been the standout performer for the Bangladeshi outfit, scoring 40 and 37, respectively. His contributions have nearly single-handedly formed the backbone of the team. He will be aiming to continue his impressive run against the Netherlands.
Seasoned campaigner, Shakib Al Hasan, would be looking to elevate his game with both bat and ball, leveraging his vast experience to the fullest. Despite a lean spell with the ball prior to the T20 World Cup 2024, taking just one wicket in his last six T20I matches, Shakib aims to make a significant impact in the tournament.

The 38-year-old nearly secured victory for Bangladesh with his batting prowess the other day, only to be cunningly caught out by the Proteas skipper. He has consistently demonstrated his reliability, and Bangladesh would be aiming to utilise his wealth of experience and expertise.

Jaker Ali is encountering a similar quandary as Shakib, albeit with the bat. In his previous six T20I innings, he’s only managed to achieve a score exceeding 20 once. He’d be aiming to rectify this situation and thereby cement his position in the team as the primary wicketkeeper.
Bowlers: Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Mustafizur Rahman
The youthful leg-spinner, Rishad Hossain, exhibited remarkable prowess during the USA series, a streak of form he has seamlessly carried into the T20 World Cup 2024.
Right-arm pacer, Taskin Ahmed, showcased his prowess by securing a couple of dismissals in each of Bangladesh’s recent matches. In fact, he’s been on song ever since the Zimbabwe series, since when he’s managed to scalp 12 wickets across six innings.
Regarding the pacers, Tanzim Hasan Sakib garnered widespread admiration after an initial over ordeal, rebounding admirably with the ball, to cause trepidation in the Proteas’ batting lineup. He’d be aiming to sustain this commendable performance.

The lanky figure of Mustafizur Rahman, following a successful IPL 2024 campaign, has showcased exceptional economy with the ball, maintaining an average economy rate of only 4.375 in the tournament so far.
